Corporate Social Responsibility in Asia
Jan 1, 2018 - Mar 31, 2019
Project description
This project aimed to analyse the functioning of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in value chain responsibility in Asia, both on paper and in practice through a network analysis. The research analysed case studies about the current state of CSR in South and East Asia, its best practices and shortcomings, and what is needed for more effective and efficient CSR in the region. The research focused on the policies of first tier suppliers/manufacturers (direct link to the main company/bank), and – where possible – also second tier (direct link to the first tier). Within this framework, specific attention was given to the roles of Dutch companies, or foreign companies based in the Netherlands, if present. The LeidenAsiaCentre was lead partner of this project, assisted by Asser senior researcher Antoine Duval and researcher Enrico Partiti, in addition to Mondiaal FNV.
