Project description
The EU programme ‘Sustainable management of water resources in rural areas in Uzbekistan’ is in line with the wider framework of the Multi-annual Indicative Programme 2014-2020 for Uzbekistan and promotes best European practice based on the EU Water Framework Directive. It aims to contribute to sustainable and inclusive growth in the rural sector in Uzbekistan in the context of a changing climate, and to specifically improve water supply and the efficiency of water resource management at national, basin and farm level. Asser senior researcher Wybe Douma participated as as expert in this project and presented at the Water Law conference (Tashkent, Uzbekistan, November 2016) on best EU legal practices in water resources management in the Netherlands and Ireland. The project was conducted together with GIZ (Germany) and UBA (Austria).
