Twinning Georgia: Strengthening the Administrative Capacities of the Ministry of Environment

Project description

The overall objective of this project was to assist and strengthen the administrative capacities of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia (MENRP). Its specific purpose was to assist in the transposition and implementation of the EU environmental acquis in the fields of industrial pollution and industrial hazards. As leading beneficiary institution, the MENRP will be able to introduce, in cooperation with other relevant stakeholders, a system of integrated pollution prevention and control through the development of legal, institutional, administrative and procedural frameworks for integrated permitting and inspection. Asser senior researcher Wybe Douma participated as an expert in this project. It was commissioned by DG NEAR-TWINNING of the European Commission, awarded to Kenniscentrum InfoMil (Netherlands Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management).
