Since Croatia joined the European Union on 1 July 2013, the Croatian judiciary has to fully apply the acquis in line with the Accession Treaty. During and after the pre-accession phase the Government of Croatia has put a lot of emphasis on preparing Croatia’s judiciary’s capacities to apply European Union Law. Also the most recent strategic document of the Croatian Government for the development of the judiciary stresses the role of the Croatian judiciary as part of the European judiciary.
The overall objective of the project was to strengthen the professionalism, efficiency and competences of the Croatian judiciary through trainings for judges, state attorneys and judicial advisors. In particular, the project focused on the upgrading of the curriculum of the Judicial Academy in the field of European Union law, as well as inclusion of EU law elements in regular civil, criminal and administrative law training.
Upon closure of the project in total 30 training programmes including 2 online courses were developed.
