Prof. Dr Ronald Janse

Profile

Ronald Janse is dean of the faculty of law at the Open University (OU) in the Netherlands since 2019. He represents the Dutch Law Faculties in the Supervisory Board of the Asser Institute. Janse is a professor of jurisprudence. He was one of the founding editors of the Hague Journal on the Rule of Law (T.M.C Asser Press/ Springer) and has been its editor-in-chief since 2015. He published on the history of European and international law in such journals as the European Law Journal, the Journal on the History of International Law, the International Organizations Law Review and the International Journal of Constitutional Law. During his tenure as dean, the OU faculty of law has doubled its academic staff, established eight new chairs in Dutch law and taken several initiatives to strengthen its educational portfolio, (regional) impact, research excellence and collaboration with academic and societal partners. At the OU, Janse led the Diversity and Inclusion Office from 2021 to 2023 and he is currently responsible for the transition to a new electronic learning environment.
