Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF)
Since January 2016, the T.M.C. Asser Instituut is the legal representative and host organisation for the GCTF Administrative Unit (AU). In that role, it endeavors to continue to accommodate and provide financial administration and general support to the GCTF, its Administrative Unit and various GCTF donors and members.
The Institute contributes to the development and implementation of GCTF outputs via its unique expertise and diverse (research) network. In all its CT work, including for the GCTF, the Institute is guided by the UN CT Strategy and especially its fourth pillar: “reaffirming that the promotion and protection of human rights for all and the rule of law is essential to all components of the Strategy, recognizing that effective counter-terrorism measures and the protection of human rights are not conflicting goals, but complementary and mutually reinforcing, and stressing the need to promote and protect the rights of victims of terrorism”.
