Joint Workshop: ‘Digitalisation of Migration Governance and Globalisation’ [14 April 2025, Tilburg University]
The Workshop was organised by the Digital Age Working Group, in collaboration with the Migration & Borders Working Group, Tilburg University and the University of Luxembourg. Panel 1, chaired by Manos Roussos, explored 'Digital Transformation and Algorithmic Processes in Migration Management'. Speakers included Prof. Valsamis Mitsilegas (University of Liverpool), Ludivine Stewart (European University Institute), Irene Baceiredo Macho (University of Deusto), Dr. Sarah Tas (Maastricht University), and Prof. Deirdre Curtin (European University Institute). Panel 2 discussed 'Digitalisation and Externalisation of Immigration Control' and was chaired by Sissy Katsoni. The speakers were Prof. Elspeth Guild (University of Liverpool), Dr. Elif Mendos Kuşkonmaz (University of Essex), Stevi Kitsou (Maastricht University), Dr. Didem Doğar (Tilburg University), Dr. Evelien Brouwer and Jarik ten Cate (Utrecht University). Panel 3, chaired by Viola Bex-Reimert, explored 'Legal Gaps Arising from the Digitalisation of Migration Management'. Speakers included Joan Lopez-Solano (Tilburg University), Dr. Sissy Katsoni (Tilburg University), Dr. Niovi Vavoula (University of Luxembourg), Dr. Mariana Gkliati and Prof. Eleni Kosta (Tilburg University).

Supported by the NNHRR, the Amsterdam Law & Tech Institute at the VU and the NNHRR Human Rights in the Digital Age Working Group organised a workshop which explored persuasive design with a multidisciplinary approach, putting together in one room lawyers, designers, social scientists, computer scientists, and ethicists.
