The blog Human Rights Here (HRH), rooted in and affiliated with the Netherlands Network for Human Rights Research (NNHRR), is expanding its team by looking for (a) new editor(s) who would like to join its Editorial Board. HRH was established in December 2019 and has grown significantly in the past years in both the breadth of content and in its reach, with multiple new publications each week as of February 2025. We are in the fortunate circumstance of needing to expand our Editorial Team!
We are looking for qualified, diligent human rights scholars (PhD researcher or higher level) to review the submissions to the blog. The administrative tasks of the blog are currently managed by an intern employed through and jointly with the T.M.C. Asser Institute. The tasks of our new editor(s) would consist primarily of conducting peer review of blog submissions, with some additional managerial responsibilities as a member of the Editorial Board, such as taking ownership of the implementation and development of editorial policies and priorities and contributing to outreach strategies.
The workload is approximately 2-4 hours per week, depending on the influx of submissions. Proficiency in English is required. The mission of Human Rights Here is to contribute to building a culture of human rights within society by building a bridge between academia, practitioners, and other stakeholders. Thus, a background in or proximity to human rights practice is highly appreciated.
The candidate should be affiliated with a member institution of the NNHRR, but need not be based in the Netherlands. In addition to backgrounds in human rights research (as law, practice, advocacy, social science, education, etc), we welcome specialised expertise in any (sub-)field(s) within or related to human rights.
Interested candidates are kindly requested to submit a Motivation Letter (max. 700 words) and a CV by 30 April 2025. We invite candidates to specify their relevant areas of expertise as well as any past editorial experience in their motivation letters. Please send your materials to [humanrightshere@asser.nl] using the subject line “HRH Editor Application”.
