This unique and intensive one-week Summer school aims to provide a thorough analysis of issues pertaining to the Law of EU External relations. Through a combination of interactive lectures by renowned academic experts, workshops led by key practitioners and study visits to the EU institutions, participants gain an extensive knowledge and a deep understanding in this dynamic area of EU law and recent developments.
The programme includes legal and policy issues in the area of EU External trade, Energy, AFSJ, CFSP/CSDP, Environment, ENP and Development policies, discussion about mixed competences and the EU’s global role.
Structure: The programme of the summer school is divided into morning sessions with lectures (9.00 – 12.00 hrs), and afternoon sessions (14.00 – 17.00 hrs). The lectures will lay down fundamental theoretical issues and discuss current important developments in the field of EU external relations and hence offer an advanced approach to the study of this area of EU law. Some of the afternoon sessions will involve study trips to and presentations at EU institutions to give an insight to practical arrangements, policy-making and coordination (EEAS, DG Trade, HOME, ECHO, European Parliament, Council Legal Service). A closing reception will allow networking with experts in the area of EU external law and policy.

Admission requirements: Students, civil servants or practitioners with academic background or practical experience in law, political science or international relations.
Language: All lectures are held in English.
Tuition fee: 450 EUR, 250 EUR for students (which covers lunch and reading material).
Scholarships: Four scholarships are available (to students only) to waive tuition. Please indicate application for one of the schoalrships in your statement of interest.
Certificate: All participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
