[Conference] Regulation Brussels Ia: a standard for free circulation of judgments and mutual trust in the European Union (JUDGTRUST)

Join us for the final conference of the JUDGTRUST project on the application of BIa Reg on 21-22 April 2022.

Background
The JUDGTRUST conference concludes the three-year project on examining the correct and consistent application of Regulation (EU) 1215/2012 on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters (BIa Reg or the Regulation; priority code: BRUSSELS Ibis).

The research findings of the project will be presented and the conference will provide an opportunity to share knowledge amongst academics, legal practitioners and legislators on how to achieve a greater consistency among various instruments in order to enhance the legal certainty, predictability and access to justice in cross border legal transactions.

The conference and the resulting publications will address:

• Interpretation of the revised Regulation.
• Major difficulties in the application and the interpretation of the BIa Reg by the courts in the EU Member States – comparative view.
• Consistency within the European private international law system – comparison with the approaches taken in the Regulations (indicated supra, under 1.1) – which lessons can be learnt?
• Possible solutions – this will present the outcome of the analysis/research (i.e. best solutions for the problems identified modelled along the lines of legal regulation in other legal instruments).

If possible, we would like to accommodate on-site participants at our premises in The Hague, but participation online would be available as well. Please indicate on the registration form whether you are planning to attend in person or online.
