Publications
Among CLEER’s most visible ‘products’ are its CLEER Papers series and the books produced by the T.M.C. Asser Instituut’s in-house publisher T.M.C. Asser Press, an affiliate of Springer. With its publications, CLEER aims to contribute to the development of academic studies and to promote innovative solutions to practical challenges to the external dimension of the EU’s legal order.
In 2015, the Working Paper Series title was changed to CLEER Papers in order to reflect the quality of the incoming publications as well as the fact that all papers are subject to a thorough academic review process. CLEER holds on to its high academic standards, therefore, all papers undergo a double blind peer review before they see the light of day. Moreover, CLEER is currently working on the implementation of a web-based review mechanism which will render the review process even more serviceable and efficient.
The CLEER Papers are accompanied by short abstracts in plain language and are published on this website (in the future also on SSRN) as well as in 100 hard copies with full colour cover. The board of CLEER, in its capacity as editorial board of the CLEER Papers series, welcomes the submission of papers for on-line publication (max. 20,000 words, incl. footnotes) at E.Kassoti@asser.nl .
CLEER also foresees to carry out contractual research, commissioned mainly by international, EU and national authorities, which will (when permitted) be published on this website in the form of reports. Benefitting from the practical knowledge gleaned from managing and carrying out consultancy activities (on legal drafting, approximation of laws, and inter-ministerial coordination) and training projects (financed through, e.g., IPA and ENPI) for EU institutions and central authorities in both EU Member States and non-EU countries (mainly (potential) candidate countries, ENP countries and Russia), CLEER hopes to lift its academic research on to a higher plane.
