Dr. Machiko Kanetake
Machiko Kanetake is an Assistant Professor of Public International Law at Utrecht University. In her research, she focuses on economic sanctions and dual-use export control at international, EU and national levels; the interactions between the UN Security Council’s exercise of authority and the domestic legal order and domestic courts’ engagement with the instruments adopted by UN human rights treaty-monitoring bodies. She has received PhD from Kyoto University. She is an editorial board member of the Leiden Journal of International Law. She also serves the Editorial Board of Security and Human Rights Journal. She is the author of “The UN Security Council and Domestic Actors: Distance in International Law” (Routledge), “The Rule of Law at the National and International Levels” (eds, Hart Publishing) with A. Nollkaemper and “The Application of Informal International Instruments Before Domestic Courts”.
