Jean-Francois Brakeland
Jean-Francois Brakeland is currently a member of the legal service at the European Commission. Formerly, he was member of the Brussels Bar. He is working in the Commission since 1993, mainly in DG Trade. He also participated to the negotiation of the trade chapter of the Nice Treaty. As a member of the Commission's Task Force on the European Union, he participated to the work of the Convention, with special responsibility for external action. He received master’s degrees from University of Leuven on law, Université Libre de Bruxelles tax law and taxation and New York University on law.
