Prof. Jan Klabbers
Jan Klabbers is Professor of International Law at the University of Helsinki, where until recently he was also Professor of International Organisations Law and Director of the Centre of Excellence in Global Governance Research. He is also Deputy Director of the Erik Castren Institute of International Law and Human Rights. He received his master’s and doctor’s degrees from the University of Amsterdam and held positions at the same university. He has held several visiting professorships/fellowships at different universities and institutes. He is considered to be one of the world’s leading experts in the law of treaties and the law of international organizations. He has published several monographs and articles on the topics, His many publications include “The Concept of Treaty in International Law” (Kluwer), “An Introduction to International Institutional Law” (CUP) and “Treaty Conflict and the European Union” (CUP).
