Prof. Steven Blockmans
Steven Blockmans is Senior Research Fellow and the Head of the 'EU foreign policy' and 'politics and institutions' units of CEPS. His expertise lies at the crossroads of international and EU law and governance. He is Professor of EU External Relations Law and Governance at the University of Amsterdam (part-time) and one of the founding members of the Centre for the Law of EU External Relations (CLEER). From 2010 to 2014, he was special visiting professor at the University of Leuven. From 2005 to 2010, he was a lecturer in the in-service training provided by the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) for the European Commission. He has published widely on the EU’s external relations. Some of his recent works are “The Obsolescence of the European Neighbourhood Policy” (Rowman & Littlefield Int.), “In Search of a Role to Play: The EU and the War in Syria” and “The Benelux Approach to EU Integration and External Action”.
