Profile

Gaia is currently pursuing the LL.M. in Public International Law at Utrecht University, specialising in Conflict and Security. In the past year, she participated in the LLM’s Honours Programme and represented Utrecht University in the Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition.

Prior to this, Gaia graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Comparative, European and International Legal Studies from the University of Trento during which she completed two Erasmus study periods at the National University of Ireland Maynooth and Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

Her primary interests include international security law, international humanitarian law, and the use of sanctions under international law. At the Asser Institute, Gaia works as an intern in the research strand “In the public interest: accountability of the state and the prosecution of crimes”, focusing on several projects encompassing Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremism, Countering Unmanned Aerial Systems Threats, and Border Security and Management.
